- Apollo Auditions Update
We have decided that, in order to help decrease the amount of stress for our current members, we would like to change the audition process and hopefully go on with these changes in the future. We would like to announce that, though auditions will still happen three times a year, once a student makes it into the program they will not need to audition for the rest of the year (if they decide to remain.) What this means: If you are a current member (Holiday Season 2020) of Apollo you will not need to re-audition for Apollo until the Fall (Holiday Season) of 2021. If you are not currently a member and audition for this current season Winter/Spring 2021 and you become a member, you will not need to re-audition until the Winter/Spring season of 2022, if you choose to stay for all three seasons. How this will work: As you should know we use a point system in order to see who is brought into the Apollo Theatre Company. If you choose to stay in for the next season we will rollover your points to the next season. If we feel your points may not be high enough we will let you know personally that it would be in your favor to re-audition instead rely on your points from your previous Season. When you leave the Apollo Theatre Company, whether it be for a Season or a couple of years, you will not be able to rollover your points. Hopefully, this will help relieve some of the stress off of our current member's backs, and will help us all out in the long run! If you (as a current member) would like to keep your spot for the upcoming season and rollover your points, please call me ASAP, preferably before the audition deadline. Thanks, Colton Kraus
- To "Wrap" It All Up
It’s been an honor working with all of you. From September to December we have been working so hard to create art! Hopefully, this has been a learning experience for all of us. I know I have learned a lot, and I hope that you guys have as well. I do apologize for some of the pressure that was put on you, however without pressure, there can be no diamonds, and that what I have seen you become this season, diamonds. We did the nearly impossible, I don’t think you guys really realize what you were able to accomplish in such a short span of time. Bravo. A few things to note before we come to an end. Please make sure you have paid your $30 Apollo Fee! If you don’t know if you paid it ask your parents or Susan. During our Awards Ceremony, we will be wearing Black Pants (Which hopefully everyone has by now.) And the girls will be wearing the white shirts that Sarah is making, the boys will wear their white button-ups with their black bow ties and red suspenders. YOU SHOULD BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES I’m not quite sure when our Halloween pictures will be done, but hopefully soon. I’ll let you guys know as soon as they are. Even though our awards ceremony is on Monday, we technically don’t conclude until the 17th. I don’t really want to meet more, but we will call a rehearsal if the videos aren’t done. Don’t feel pressured into trying out. For those of you who are thinking about trying out in the Summertime, I want you to think long and hard about whether you want to do Apollo, Peter and the Starcatcher, or both. Some of you I would much rather have in Peter, and some of you I would much rather have in Apollo. Though the rehearsals are on the same days, it will be some hard work to do both. But on the other hand Summer Apollo is a lot less intense than this Season was. Anyway, I hope to work with you all again in the near future. I am proud of the accomplishments we have made together. - Coming Down To The Nitty-Gritty
Hey kiddos, we are coming down to the nitty-gritty. I am a little nervous about the workload I will have over my break if you guys do not get your videos in on time. So to offer a little incentive, you will not be eligible for an award this season if you do not complete the assigned videos. I am currently looking at the possibility for extensions on some, but for right now you should be able to have at least your monologues done, and your songs should be learned. This being said, there are only two people eligible to get awards right now out of the five awards we are planning on giving out. It will be a very lackluster awards ceremony if we can only give out 2 awards (in addition to our Apollo Member Shout Outs that we will do where everyone will be included no matter what.) PLEASE get your videos in. You think it may be hard for you to record for 3-5 minutes in a week, imagine how it will be for me to put together over 90 videos together if I get them all last minute. That is something I am not looking forward to if you guys aren't able to get your videos in a timely manner. That being said I would like to shoutout Porter and Erika for having everything in, even with both of them having to record some of their videos. We are making progress but I really need you guys to keep pushing forward and be resilient. 2 weeks and this is all a memory. Awards So disregarding what I said about awards on Monday, we still want you guys to pick the winners of the awards, the directors will also have a vote (they didn't last time), and the directors will also be deciding the winner of the Apollo Award along with a new award. The way awards will work this season is that everyone will get to nominate someone, the people with the most votes will be put onto a new list where everyone can vote. All the votes are anonymous, not even I will know who said what. Saturday Rehearsal Please be on time to rehearsal on Saturday, we have a lot to get through. We will be recording ALL OF THE VOCALS FOR OUR SONGS, this includes: Sparklejollytinklejingley, Most Wonderful Time Of The Year, Peace On Earth, I'm Getting Nuttin', and All I Want For Christmas. As I am writing this I realize that this may be a lot. So let's plan to do this over the span of Saturday and Monday. But this means that we need to KNOW OUR MUSIC. I am serious, please go over your music, if you have questions you need to ask, please do so. If you would like time to go over music then maybe we can extend our rehearsal time for Saturday by a little bit, but I need to know TODAY so I can ask Jena. This requires a response. If you would like Jena to be there on Saturday for quick run-throughs and would like to have a longer rehearsal (with a break obviously) let me know ASAP! - Expectations
Hi everyone, I hope everyone is doing well. I'm sorry for any confusion or hurt feelings that happened last night. Here is what happened, I had some of you at the Fine Arts Center ready to learn, not knowing what was happening, the rest of you who were not able to make it should know that you should be working on the big list of things you need to accomplish by the 13th of December (Remember "Do" and "Due" are different, just because thin aren't due a specific day does not mean you should wait until that day to do them.) Again let me reiterate, those of you who were not physically at rehearsal should have been working on your things for the virtual show. which is why working with the kids who were our rehearsal was my priority, because they were able to come, I needed something to do. I got on Zoom, and waited for five minutes. But the only one who showed up was Emma, so instead of waiting for everyone, I decided to write a blog post instead, so I didn't waste the time of the people who were physically at the Fine Arts Center. I am not mad or disappointed if you were not able to come, I am disappointed with those who did not contact me and tell me that they weren't able to or couldn't come. Which brings me to my next point, I am also very disappointed in those of you who have not sent me the video of your monologue, and those of you who have not sent me your second written monologue. You guys have had ample time to write these 1 minute monologues. You've had a little less time to record your first video, however I still should receive no excuses, especially for those of you in quarantine. This goes back to when we were working on The Monsters of Hazeltine Manor, me, Jena, Ivan, and Sydnee have put in so much time to provide you guys with the tools you need from choreography, the music, to helping put things together. And it makes me extremely upset when you 12 do not do the same. We worked so hard for you guys. I understand that there are many different factors in your life, however, not communicating with me about these factors doesn't help anyone. I would be more understanding if you turn your guys his stuff in late, if you contacted me and told me why, or ask for more time. But just not turning it in with no communication to me why it was late or why it's not turned in, is not a quality of a smart performer. Hopefully it's clear that I am not upset/disappointed because they weren't turned in on time, it's because there was no communication. If no one tells me anything, I will assume that you just didn't do it. Your communication with me is important. Which again segues me into my next point. Communication is a two way road. I have communicated my expectations with you, I have recorded zoom meetings, and made a list of what should be accomplished. If you do not understand what needs to be accomplished, or do not know how to access these tools, it is your responsibility to contact someone whether it be me or another member of the company to find out what you're missing and ask questions. It is important you tell me why you were missing. I really should not have to track people down and contact them. When I get these kinds of responses, and people don't contact me and give me information, like why they were missing, or why their assignments was late, or they don't ask any questions, I just assume that they do not care. Which I don't think is the case. At the end of each meeting we have, I say the words "Does anyone have any questions, comments, or concerns, (or jokes)?" and wait for a response, if I receive none, then I'm assuming that everyone knows the expectations. As for the rehearsal on Monday night, those of you who were not able to come did not miss anything. There is little to nothing more I can do for you guys to help you rehearse. You have all the tools and instructions, now it's your turn to build. I can answer questions and help clarify things but for the most part, I've done all I can do to help you guys learn the material. You guys are the ones who have to go and learn it and do it. So for the people who were there on Monday physically at the Fine Arts Center, I told them that we were not working on the Christmas show. We decided to choreograph a random musical number as an assignment to see how fast we can learn it it. That is all that you missed. Again, if you have not reached the expectations, please find out what you need to do to do so. After reading this I need a response from all 12 members, this includes Seth, Ariana, Emma, Erika, Ian, Emily, Ammon, Savanah, Izzy, Porter, Afton, and Brandon. This response should include you saying that you have read these expectations, you know what I am expecting, why you did or did not reach these expectations this week, what else I can do to help you reach these expectations, and what you were going to do to reach these expectations, whether it is asking questions, or turn your stuff in on time, or anything else that you can think of. I need these responses before Wednesday night. I LOVE and miss you guys, and I know that this is frustrating, but I know we can do it as long as everyone pulls their weight and does their best. -Your Director, Colton Kraus
- Virtual Show Information
We certainly have our work cut out for us in these next few weeks. Instead of being frustrated with performing, there's a good change that we will be frustrated by something that has been put in place to help us, technology. However, like always I have faith in you guys. WE can do it as long as everyone works hard and does not procrastinate (that much.) The following due dates have been put in place to help you guys stay in track, and help me not be overwhelmed when receiving your videos to edit them. November 21st: First Monologue Due November 28th: Second Monologue Due/Emily's Song November 29th: Where Are You Christmas December 5th: Sparklejollytwinklejingly/All Hippo Stuff(Arianna) December 6th: The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year/Ian's Song December 12th: Boys Song/Girls Song December 13th: All Emcee Stuff/Izzy's Song/Peace on Earth If I have forgotten anything on this list please let me know! One more time for good measure, I will go over how you should be filming: Film Horizontally! Your phone should be the long way, not the tall way. Have good lighting, white lighting is really good, yellow lighting is not. I want to be able to see your face clearly and nicely. Make sure you background isn't busy. Maybe you decide to film in front of your Christmas tree, or in front of a Nativity set. Sure! But if not Christmasy, I want your background to be simplistic. Either way I don't want it to distract from you. If you need to, put up a sheet somewhere. Each section must be recorded all at once, example: The Emcees should have someone read their lines off camera, and then respond to what is being said without stopping the camera. If you mess up, it's okay. Do it again. Do NOT send me a cohesive things in parts. I want one video for each segment or it will not look like a zoom call/virtual call. You guys are awesome. - This is Snow Joke! (Okay that Pun has absolutely nothing to do with anything)
Sorry about the awful pun! To address the current situation and questions that are arising, the answer to most questions are “I’m not entirely sure.” If you are asking, “Will there be a Christmas show?” the answer is “I’m not entirely sure.” If you are asking what rehearsals will look like for the next two weeks, my answer will be “I’m not entirely sure.”. If you are going to ask “What do you have planned?”, again, my answer is “I’m not entirely sure.” These are unpredictable times, and uncontrollable circumstances. So many things are frequently changing, if you would have asked me at the beginning of April if I thought I was going to put on a Halloween show, I would have said no. If you would have asked me last week if I thought we would be doing a Christmas show, the answer is yes. But obviously, right now it’s sort of up in the air. Despite all of the unknown things, I am sure about some things. We will be continuing to meet virtually on our scheduled dates. However, the length that we meet may be altered due to the virtual component, not longer meetings, but shorter. I am sure that these next two weeks I am going to focus more on teaching aspects of theatre, rather than teaching choreography and working on a show. All of you are extremely talented, however, I often skim over important subjects as we put together our performances. So I am excited to focus more on you guys and techniques rather than just performing and looking good on stage. I am also sure that we will still make the best of the rest of this company season. All 12 of our members are outstanding, and to just put the towel in and say we had a good run is not something I am interested in. Whether we do some sort of virtual performance, or a live one, I want to show people how amazing you guys all are! To The Parents The support from the parents is also something I would like to express my gratitude for. I know there were some changes, some within my hands, and some out of my hands, but I would like to thank the parents/guardians for being so supportive and patient. I don’t think many of you understand how thankful I am to be able to spend time with these 12 kids. This is what I love doing, and what I sacrifice money, time, and many other things for. These kids take priority over almost everything else, and I do my best to show them that. I couldn’t be more thankful that you have decided to share your kids with me, it means the world. Back to the Kids Now, back to my Apollo Members. I love all of you guys, and I am excited to continue to get to know all of you and work alongside you for the next month, whether it’s virtually or physically. I also want to congratulate all of you once again on a FANTASTIC show. I was so impressed with you guys, and I can not put into words how happy I was to see you guys succeed on stage and become more powerful performers on stage. I mentioned to you guys that I had specific things that I could say to each one of you on how I was impressed and have seen you grow, and I decided to also include a word that describes you in some way. Well here it goes: Afton: I am very impressed on how much character you presented to me in the final week of rehearsal. There were multiple numbers where my eyes went to you because you were owning the stage, like I asked you to do. You are very devoted actress, and when you work hard, you excel on the stage. Congratulations on bringing your character to life. A Word To Describe You: Driven Ammon: I don’t think you understand how grateful I am that you decided to join us this season. It seems like fate knew that you were coming because the part of Victor was meant for you, and only you. The amount of personality that you put into your character was amazing from day one. You have such a bright future as an actor and I’m so privileged to work with you. A Word To Describe You: Extraordinary Arianna: I hope you know that you are talented. Once you get past your mental blocks I know that you can be the centerpoint of many productions and performances. The raw talent that you have makes me jealous. You certainly surprised me during the Friday night show, not because you did it, but because you did it and it blew my socks off. Great Job. A Word To Describe You: Dazzling Brandon: You are such a star. You are performing at the same level of the high school students. You are the reason that the age limit was lowered, and I was not disappointed. The amount of effort and conviction that you pour into your perfoming is always outstanding. I cannot wait to continue working with you, and I am certain you will continue to shine on stage. A Word To Describe You: Prodigious Emily: You already know that you are an outstanding performer, we all know that you are an outstanding performer. With your jaw dropping performances and the confidence you have on stage, you easily make me envy your talent. Although the part was not originally written for you, apparently it was always meant for you from the beginning. A Word To Describe You: Powerful Emma: Everytime you step on to that stage you know exactly what you're doing, or at least act like you do. Not only do you have so much natural talent, but your knowledge of how to hone in on your abilities is unfathomable. You excel in singingin, acting, AND dancing. I am constantly impressed by you and cannot wait to see where these talents take you. A Word To Describe You: Brilliant Erika: You are such a great performer. During our rehearsal process it was extremely evident that you know what it means to be a performer, a team player, and an overall intellectually driven person. When you look up and open your eyes on stage, the audience is faced with an electric performance that cannot be easily forgotten. A Word To Describe You: Electric Ian: I cannot begin to say how happy I am working with you. Ever since I saw you as Horton, I hoped that the day that I was able to work with you came. And I have not been disappointed. Your work ethic, sense of teamwork, and ability to lift up others are qualities that are hard to come by in this world. You are so amazing Ian, a perfect Vampire Dad. You gave Edward Cullen a run for his money. A Word To Describe You: Unprecedented Izzy: My favorite mummy. One of my most favorite examples of excelling during this show. As I’ve told you multiple times, the switch that happened when you brought Cordelia to life was like night and day. You went from skim milk to delicious eggnog in one day, and that was one of the most impressive things that I have seen throughout these past few weeks. I hope after this Season is over I get to work with you again. Such a bright personality. A Word To Describe You: Superb Porter: Everytime you come back to the Fine Arts Center stage, you get better and better. I am more and more impressed every time I have the opportunity to work with you. You are one the hardest working people that I have had the ability to work with. Not only that, but you are so flexible to changes and directions. Keep on this track, and you will obviously go far. Very impressive. A Word To Describe You: Devoted Savannah: You are amazing. The Friday performance was 10x better than anything I could have ever asked for. The words that I gave you were “Own the stage” as Bobby, and you definitely did, without a doubt. Each part of your character was natural, and your performance was near to flawless. Thank you for putting in the work to put on a phenomenal performance. A Word To Describe You: Astounding Seth: Seth, I freaking love you. We’ve been working together for a little while now, but these last few months it has been great to be able to get to know you even more. You have so much raw talent in your body that creates show stopping performances when you tap into it. As soon as that clicks, you are a force to be reckoned with. I am proud to be your director, and I cannot wait to see what goals you reach, and what distances you travel. A Word To Describe You: Wondrous Again, congratulations on doing the nearly impossible, we put together a worthwhile show in 17 rehearsals, despite all odds, and through these unprecedented times. We brought in at least $750 dollars for the Fine Arts Center with this show. I can't thank you guys enough for making me proud. We will be going through these next few weeks together, and I’m ecstatic that it is you guys who I get to be alongside. Please practice patience for me, Sydnee, Ivan, Jena, and Susan as we work together to find what we feel will be most beneficial for the Fine Arts Center as well as you guys. We will be meeting tonight (Monday, November 9th) at 7:00-8:30, via Google Hangouts. Please remember that this is not an added meeting, this is just a different format of a planned rehearsal, which as I stated previously, will be the format for the next couple weeks. - Opening Night! & Pictures
Here is a message I posted in the hangouts: Okay guys I'm begging you for the next few days play it so safe! Keep your masks on, wash your hands, and social distance. Please be very mindful and responsible of what you do. Along those same lines, I am not able to watch you and make sure you're doing the right thing everywhere else, but at the Fine Arts Center I can. If I catch kids not practicing social distancing with their masks off, there are going to be consequences. I can't risk us getting each other sick, or worse getting family members sick because we aren't responsible. When you are off stage you may not be near another person who doesn't have a mask UNLESS you're about to go onstage. Please respect the Fine Arts Center and the rules. Play it SAFE, Play it SMART Please Note: After bows, you MUST go get a mask on before you talk to anyone. Notes I'm so excited to open! We are going to rock it! You guys are all outstanding when you're giving it 110%. Please remember our changes we have made and stay mindful throughout the show. ALWAYS THINK AHEAD. Here are some notes: Everyone is doing so much better on reacting on stage, please continue to improve and add more. Izzy, Savanna, and Erika can be SOOO Much louder. Seth... Savannah remember to own the stage, Bobby is a very strong willed character and you often look confused and unsure. Work on being powerful. Afton: "You would know being one if us after all." Needs to be smoother, and more poisonous, make it sharp. Don't take as many pauses. Everyone LOOK AT WHO YOU ARE TALKING TO. Emily react to Bobby's magic not working the first time. Ambrosias I need a LONGER scream. Porter great scream during the fight! Porter wait a titch longer before saying "Hey who's got my arm" or just come on a bit later. Seth can you bring on the Arm for Scaring in the Manor. Afton "No one needs to be harmed" not "No one need be harmed" No Surrender, when you jump off the stage Seth jumps on "Sur" Bobby and Eli jump on "der". Because of the fences. Ammon slow down "You turn to stone like this" please SLOW IT DOWN also can you back up a it? Be center stage on the floor. All the lines with the Mirror need to be LOUDER. Especially Cordelias "behind" line. EVERYONE work on diction and being louder. If you see something that needs to go off/on stage an you are able to do it, DO IT, no more "Not my job" mentality because I am not going to do it anymore. All of my Hazeltines during All Goes Down, hit you pose and look to stage right, when you're hat comes up then you can look forward. Also Savannah you are supposed to kneel by Seth, do NOT stand. And Seth you gotta freeze, when you try talking to Porter I can see it and it ruins the number, go with the flow of the show. - ATTENTION PARENTS
Some of the kids have voiced concern about the attendance of our show on Halloween. I recognize this concern and realize it may be a problem. However, to ensure they get the audience that they deserve for this show we would like to add a show on the following Monday; Monday, Nov 2nd. This show would be in addition to the 3 that they already have. What this means is that that Monday we would be having a show instead of rehearsal for our Christmas performance. We would start a show at about 8:00 and the students would be getting home later than their set 8:30 for that rehearsal day. My biggest concern is for the Trick or Treaters since they weren't planning on being there that day. I would like to know asap if this is okay for everyone. Susan has approved the show as long as all the parents are okay with it. Please let me know. For questions or concerns please text me at 435-279-6159. - Miracle Week!
Pictures Hi everyone! This is the first blog of the season, probably should've written more towards the beginning, but at least I'm starting now. Monday, October 19 is picture day! We will be taking head shots as well as some group pictures! Remember the colors that I would like to be worn or maroon, black, dark orange, navy/denim, forest green, dark gray, tan, or other fall colors. I do not want to see pink, baby blue, any neon colors, etc. I would also like appropriate clothing, we are taking the pictures in the fall, so we look like the fall aesthetic. This means no shorts, tank tops, flip-flops, etc. Think sweaters, warm clothes, scarves, sweatshirts, and other fall/winter clothing. I still do not want any visible logos or pictures on any part of clothing. However for these pictures you are allowed to wear hats, I would like to shy away from baseball caps, but if it's a plain baseball cap with no logos and you really want to wear it, I will probably have no objections. Remember that these pictures are not supposed to be formal, please don't come in your homecoming dress, or your best Sunday clothes. Dress as if you were going to see a nice show, so not dressy, but not in clothes you would wear around the house on a lazy day. Longer Rehearsals If you have taken a recent look at your rehearsal calendar, you will notice that rehearsals are longer up until November. This week on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday rehearsal is from 6:30 to 9 o'clock. And next week our rehearsals are TBD, until we see how long the Make up takes. Some of you may be asked to come to rehearsal early, to practice things, or go through things that you may have missed. This is to insure we don't add extra rehearsal days! Costumes All of your costume pieces should be purchased. You were responsible for notifying me if there was a costume piece that you did not have, or weren't sure about. Saturday is going to be a full costume day, and you should have been wearing your shoes for the past two weeks of rehearsal. Remember the final say on costumes lies with me, Sydnee, and Ivan. We have spent time and money on many costume pieces, so we would like to see them carried out. Please remember at the end of the show, if you did not buy the costume pieces you may not keep them. Everything that was purchased by the fine art center needs to stay at the Fine Arts Center, many things are coming out of my money, or the Fine Arts Teen Theatre Budget. Hair and Makeup Hopefully many of you are going to be able to do your own make up, I have told you this previously but we have purchased multiple make up pallets, and Halloween make up. I have also given you the information but every person needs to buy their own eyeliner and mascara. I believe you can find both at the dollar store, eyeliner can be black or brown. I have giving you guys some make up notes, but not really and hope to give you some throughout the week. Contacting me with questions is a quick way to get the information that you need. The make up that I know needs to be on at the Fine Arts Center is Ammon's make up, Seth's make up, and Porter's make up, because those will be the most intricate and the most time consuming. However, that may change. Hopefully we can have most of you put on foundation, and do a lot of your make up, and then add little things quickly instead of doing your whole face of make up for you, to minimize the time that we have to spend on make up. The same goes for hair, I'm expecting everyone to do their hair other than Ammon, Seth, and Porter. There may be some colored hairspray added to your hair, or some sparkle hairspray, but other than that your hair will either be done at home or we will help you put a wig on your head. Hopefully taking these steps will optimize our pre-show preparation time. And please note, if you need help applying your eyeliner, mascara, or any part of your make up we will be there to help you. But like I said it is not required for most of you to have us do it, because I know you guys are very capable. But we will be there to help you, as long as you tell us that you need help. What Lies Ahead We are in the final stretch of our show, it is very important that we all work very hard, and voice our concerns if there are any, before they become too big, or it's too late to fix them. These next two weeks I need everyone's cooperation, concentration, and patience. We are so close to having an awesome show, and we can do it as long as we all work together. My plan for this week is to have Monday be review/time to fix problems. Wednesday and Thursday will both be full run-throughs, so that our people who are double cast both get a chance to run through the shop. On Saturday we will be running the show at 10 o'clock, fall dress and make up. The following are call times for make up and what not but it may change: Saturday October 24th: Seth and Porter: 8:15 Ammon: 8:45 Everyone Else: 9:00 Start Show: 10:00 This will show me what time we need to have the call be for our shows, if everyone cannot accomplish everything they need to like getting ready and getting their make up on in that timeframe of 9 o'clock to 10 o'clock, then the call time will be earlier during our shows. So get as much done at your house before you come so that we can use our time wisely, I would like to run through things before our run through but that will not happen if you guys are not prepared. To Conclude We are going to do this everyone! We are so close! Here comes another fun recording day! QUICK REMINDER: Please send us a picture of any light colored blue top that you have! ASAP. We successfully have finished our first filming day, we have four more to go. Now we know sort of what to expect the next time, and we know how to make everything flow more naturally. For our next filming day we will attempt to have a strict schedule set for each number and piece, so we can better manage time and ensure rest time. However, this means that everyone must arrive on time and ready to go at start time which has been set to 9:00 each time we film. We must all be in time to ensure that we can stay to the schedule. If we all do our part I'm sure we can become recording masters. I'd like to thank you all for all your hard work and dedication to this program, you have all been working really hard in and out of rehearsals which is vital for a program like this to work. I'm hopeful for it to continue running smoothly, but please don't let your guard down, practice, practice, and practice some more. We have had to change some of our filming dates due to the Melodrama starting up soon, conflicting schedules, and holidays. These are the new dates along with what will be recorded each day. That would shorten our time to learn songs. Please provide insight to what you think could be done to ensure you have ample time to learn your pieces. Some options I can think of are lengthening rehearsals by 30 minutes (6:30-9:00) in order to teach more, have longer filming times in order to film more in one day and skip one of the filming days, or maybe even cutting out a number. None of those options are set in stone, and may not even be plausible, but please let us know what would be beneficial to you. But if you are fine with those dates, lets stick with them and work hard to learn everything, because I know you guys can do it. I would prefer to just stick with those dates. Next, I would like to talk about the 23rd of July. Sarah, Ivan, and I will all be gone that Thursday on a trip. We know that is the day before Pioneer Day so we want to leave it up to you whether we have rehearsal or not. We would like to have a piano player come in that day and practice with you guys on all of your upcoming pieces, which I feel would be very valuable for each of you who don't have that option at home. Let us know if you guys would like to do that, or if you would rather just cancel rehearsal that day. I realize that some of you have not gotten the time that you needed with me, Sarah, or Ivan to work on your small pieces, or you're maybe having trouble with choreography. If this is you please let me know! I would like to find a time, outside of company rehearsals to work with each Spotlight Piece. Please contact me with you availability. If you are in "Beyond My Wildest Dreams", I would like to work with you Tuesday Night at 7:00. Please Let me know! It has also come to my attention that although this is not technically a "theatre class" and more of a performing class, I do want to teach you guys more than just learning choreography in 2 hours. I have compiled a list of characterization questions that I would like filled out by each person for each piece that they perform. These will be all put on the website and filled out electronically. I hope they will help you learn more about characterization. I would like these turned in by the Wednesday after we record the piece. Please don't procrastinate. Regarding the pieces that we have already recorded, yes there are still characterization questions for them. Have them done by this Wednesday, July 8th. Erika: You always impress me, whenever I think your're out of surprises POW here you come. Keep it up. Ian: You always try so hard, I admire your confidence and ambition.
