DIRECTing

I've been involved with directing in some way or another for five years. My favorite part of directing is casting. When I'm casting I get the power to see an actors potential and imagine where they would be the best fit and how they could help bring a character to life. I also love making props and costume pieces.

James and the Giant Peach

A Musical Masterpeach

Based on one of Roald Dahl’s most poignantly quirky stories, Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach JR. is a brand new take on this "masterpeach" of a tale.  Featuring a wickedly tuneful score and a witty and charming book, this adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery is destined to be a classic.

When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.

There's been a murder! Multi-millionaire Garret Hampton was found after being suffocated in a vat of glitter, in his own factory, during his New Years Ball. The question is, was it an accident, or was he pushed by his ex-partner Rose Gold? Who better to be on this case but district attorney Lisa Sullivan. All that Lisa wanted was some alone time, which is what she thought she had until her husband, Jeremy Sullivan, informs her that they will once again be taking on a court case as a team. Lisa is upset with the fact that her immature husband has taken on yet another case with her, only to find that the defense attorneys are the Sullivans mortal enemies, Sam and Nicole Osborne, who never lose a case. Through heated arguments, wacky jokes, crazy connections, and a plethora of glitter be roped into the crazy courthouse of Reton Hills Montana, where the most unlikely of people will do the most unlikely of things. And find out what happened that night during the rather flamboyant occasion.

Wonderland!

WHY WORRY WHERE THE PATH MIGHT END? WHAT MATTERS IS THE JOURNEY

This was a fun project. I co-directed with Ashley Pyle Patterson. Also on the team was Trayson Wilson, Katrina Powell, Ester Dutson, Malani Taylor, and Madeline Powell. This is a fun show by James Devita and Bill Francouer. Wonderland! is a silly adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass. It has every type of music from country to hip-hop. And it brings a lot of the character from the story to life. But also incorporates characters from other stories like Humpty Dumpty. We had a cast of 34 kids ages 8-16

No Clue:

An Orginal Parody

This is a great place to add a tagline.

No Clue is a parody of the Murder Mystery Detective Game "Clue". It was written as a part of a writing project at the Brigham City Fine Arts Center. I wrote (under my author name, James C.K.) together with Nas Karabine and G.M. Parkin. The show follows the story of an open house that has many guests, all in some way connected to the murder of the owner of the Mansion, Mr. Jaeger. Crazy and wacky events, including a lemonade break and the worshiping of a beautiful piece of feline art, lead to Detective Pratt solving the Mystery. This is an interactive play that lets the audience choose the ending by voting. It was a great experience and an amazing cast. From rehearsals to performances this show was amazing and it was my first community show that I had directed and written.

Vampires Are

Our Friends

Vampires Are Our Friends is a show written by Kamron Kiltgaard. I directed this show full of my peers while I interned with my high school theatre teacher Mrs. Melanie Day. The show is a courtroom comedy about Count Orlock, a murderous vampire who clearly is guilty. With characters like Cookie Spatuluson the disgusting high school cook, and Verona, Allera, and Marishka the vampire brides, this show was a fun play to direct. It's comparable to a show I was in entitled The Night Of January 16th by Ayn Rand. Including the element of drawing a jury from the audience.
