Practice Makes Perfect and Even More Homework

Hi cast and family members. We are a bit over halfway through our rehearsal process, deadlines have came. The memorization date has passed. If there is something that we have gone over with you during rehearsal than it should be practiced and memorized. Whether that is lines, choreography or blocking, you have all the means of practicing at home, we have given you scripts, rehearsals soundtracks, videos, etc. The choice of perfecting it even more has been left in the hands of the cast members. We are not able to keep going over the same numbers constantly to reiterate everything for those who need a little bit of extra help. However, if you/your cast member needs some extra help, feel free to contact someone on the directing team and we would be happy to help before or after rehearsal.

Next on the agenda is costumes, multiple people have told me that they have no idea what they are supposed to be wearing. This should not be the case, because excluding certain people ie: Centipede, Sharks, and a few others, all costumes have been updated and posted. Please refer to the costume list and the "Who is What" list to know what costumes you need. No one in the directing team has it memorized so we are not able to tell you off the top of our heads, if only our memories were that good. Because of the confusion about costumes, we are changing the due date to Monday November 11th. That gives everyone the weekend to find their things and it provides the directing team time to finalize things and answer questions.

Attendance and Punctuality is the next thing we would like to address. Regarding punctuality, multiple people come in late to rehearsal everyday, we begin warm ups at 6:28, to be ready to start rehearsing at about 6:30-6:33, we need everyone here and ready to go by 6:35, failing to do so results in disorientation between fellow cast members and the directing team. If it is a possibility that you are going to be late, please Contact a member of the directing team. Now addressing conflicts, If you have a conflict it should be on the Cast Member Conflict List, Multiple people were missing on Saturday, only one person told us she would be gone, and not one of the missing people put their name in the Conflict List. When situations like this happens it throws rehearsals into chaotic pinwheels. Cast Members time is wasted, or they are not able to practice to their full extent because they are missing their partner, the directing team is at a loss because we aren't able to accomplish what we thought we were going to be able to accomplish, and everyone's concentration is lost. Because this is such a fast paced musical, and we are already behind due to concentration of the cast, missing rehearsals (unexcused) may result in being removed from a musical number. We are not able to fix and redo things when we have people missing. And if you know that there is a day you/your cast member is missing, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!

Lastly we would like to remind everyone about November 15th. November 15th is the Brigham City Fine Arts Center Grand Re-Opening concert. The cast members will be performing at the beginning of the concert, this is not required but we would like all that can make it to be there. Especially our leads. More info to follow before the end of the week. If you have read this blog post come up to someone on the directing team and say the magic phrase "There's a Snake in My Boot" for a piece of candy.

In conclusion, everyone please make sure you are on time and ready to go no later than 6:35, and please make sure that there is practicing going on at home. It is vital that everyone, including parents does their part to make this show great. That brings us to this weeks homework that is due by next Monday the 11th. We would like a video of you going through choreography, lines, or music. It doesn't have to be the whole song/scene, just a little snippet of you practicing.

******Reminder of the homework that was due prior to fall break: we want you to send a video of you saying the following sentences in your accent. “See a magic spell and a boy collide right before your eyes at Brigham City Fine Arts Centers Production of James and The Giant Peach, December 12th, 13th, 14th, and 16th.” This is due by rehearsal on Monday the 11th and it will be later used for advertising. Remember to use your accent!!! Everyone must do it!
